Just east of Reno, Sparks brings a wide array of events and attractions. The 39 North Marketplace Farmers Market, Star Spangled Sparks, Nugget Best in the West Rib Cook-Off, Hot August Nights and Hometowne Christmas Parade are just a spattering of the events that attract thousands of attendees each year. The City of Sparks has distinguished itself as a great special events destination in the West, furthering its apropos slogan, “It’s Happening Here.”
Still considered one of the more affordable, beautiful areas to live, North Sparks & Spanish Springs offer up newer communities with most homes in these suburbs having been built only within the last 15 years. Spanish Springs is a great rural area of Sparks Nevada with lots of horse properties yet very close to some of the best shopping in Washoe county.
The Spanish Springs area is a suburb of Sparks located North on Pyramid Highway. It is one of the fastest growing areas in our community. The newest addition to this community is the Sparks Galleria mall with Costco and Home Depot being of the largest anchors of the center and now includes Sprouts grocery store, Marshalls, and many more outdoor shopping facilities.
Just 20 minutes north of Sparks & Spanish Springs is Pyramid Lake which is a stunning site to see and enjoy recreationally in Northern Nevada. Pyramid Lake is one of the most beautiful desert lakes in the world. It is a remnant of ancient Lake Lahontan, which covered a large area of northwestern Nevada at the end of the last Ice Age (about 12,000 to 15,000 years ago). The water in Pyramid Lake comes from the Truckee River, which flows some 121 miles from its source at Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada. Pyramid Lake is completely within the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe Reservation. Because of Pyramid Lake, this region is known widely for camping, boating, swimming, photography, fishing, and bird watching.
Many families and individual residents moving to Sparks & Spanish Springs draw appeal to the many new build developments existing and currently under construction. In addition, the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center (TRIC) is just 20 miles East of the Sparks area, so incoming employment opportunities out at TRIC offer up the Sparks & Spanish Springs areas as a wonderful place to call home.
